Music Memories

Music Memories is a gently, joyful Outreach project that brings seniors together through the power of song.

Each session will focus on conversation and musical reminiscence around themes like “Songs from our school days” or “The first record I bought.”  It’s all about laughter, nostalgia and connection — a feel-good 90 minutes where memories come alive, voices are heard, and friendships blossom.

Our wonderful facilitators will be visiting different locations in Woodhouse, Little London and Chapeltown with a beautiful record player, bringing not just music but memories. They’ll arrive with songs that spark stories, melodies that rebuild connections and tunes that unlock treasured moments. Alongside the music comes warmth, companionship and a safe space to reminisce, laugh and share. It’s more than a visit, it’s the joy of familiar voices, forgotten favourites and the magic that begins with the first gentle crackle of vinyl.

NICK WAYNE

Facilitator

Starting his musical career in Whitechapel in the 1970s, Nick owned a recording studio, booking agency, publishing business and record label before he moved into the West End and became Tour Manager for Europe’s leading concert promoter, Harvey Goldsmith.

Moving up to date, Nick is a Trustee of Music House and is still very heavily involved in live music and the promotion of existing and budding musicians.

CLEVE FRECKLETON

CLEVE FRECKLETON

Facilitator

For over 50 years Cleve Freckleton has shared his musical gifts with people of all ages in schools, community centres and sheltered housing all over the world. These experiences have given him some insight into how music and songs connect people and change how they feel.

We are grateful to Leeds City Council for the funding to run this project.
