FOR THE JOY OF PLAYING AND THE LOVE OF LEARNING
A community engagement project
with multiple strands…
Who’s In The House (WITH) aims to positively address inequalities of the people living in surrounding areas (eg Little London, Woodhouse, Hyde Park) where community arts and creatives outlets are few and far between.
This project is lead by Music House Creative Director, Christella Litras with support from Nekela Alleyne, Business Development Officer and pastoral care.
These choirs are intended as a pathway for continued learning and participation by those who are taking part.
Show and Tell: Saturday 20 April 2024
This is an internal opportunity for staff, trustees, teachers and different groups who use Music House, to learn about WITH and share experiences.
It’s an opportunity for everyone to contribute, to talk about themselves and shed a little light on what they do.
This part of the project will generate a sense of belonging, identity, appreciation and common purpose.
Taster sessions including music and short performances; chance to hear more about some of our exciting plans and the opportunity to get involved with a gentle public consultation.
Light refreshments will be available.
A series of outreach engagement sessions aimed at recruiting 11- 18 year olds from primary / high schools / community settings to take part in the next phase of the project: Jam Around The Table – New Wave.
The mini-jam engagement sessions will create a relaxed vibe where food will be shared.
Christella and Nekela will encourage the young people they meet to talk about themselves and what they like to do. There will be group singing and open mic moments.
Note: Both Christella and Nekela are CRB checked and have managed many projects involving young people.
28 May – 30 May (3 days)
The Holiday Project will bring together youngsters recruited through the mini-jam outreach sessions.
They will get to explore / be encouraged to take part in some really fun activities at Music House over 3 days during May half-term.
Our Creative Director, Christella will facilitate these sessions alongside Nekela who will also oversee safeguarding / health and wellbeing of the young people in our space.
