Our Creative Director, Christella Listras, is currently working in London as a composer on a major new production with the Royal Shakespeare Company and honestly, we are starry eyed.
The production, Driftwood, is set in 1950s Trinidad at a time when the country is on the brink of independence. At the centre of it all is a Port of Spain members’ club called ALMA — a place where people go to relax and escape, but underneath that, tensions are building and things start to unravel.
It’s a powerful story about identity, power, belonging and what happens when everything you know starts to shift. To be part of a production like this, with such a strong story and creative team behind it, is a huge moment.
Christella’s reputation as a composer and creative leader is so well respected. Her work has real depth, it connects, and it stays with you — and this opportunity is a reflection of that. Being part of a Royal Shakespeare Company production is no small thing. It’s a massive step onto a national stage and a real recognition of the quality of her work. For us at Music House, it’s also a reminder of what’s possible and the level of artistry that sits at the heart of everything we do.
We are so proud to have her leading our creative vision.
