There are moments when someone from the Music House family achieves something that reminds us just how fortunate we are to have such extraordinary people at the heart of our organisation.

This is one of those moments.

Earlier this year we celebrated the news that our Creative Director, Christella Litras, had been commissioned as composer for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of Driftwood. Set in 1950s Trinidad, the production explores themes of identity, belonging, power and social change. What an achievement.

Now that remarkable journey is taking Christella to Trinidad itself.

As part of the continued development of Driftwood, Christella is heading to Trinidad where she will be deliverd a two day reading at the prestigeous  National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA), one of the Caribbean’s leading centres for artistic excellence and cultural expression.

This latest opportunity builds on the outstanding work Christella  has already undertaken as composer for the production and represents another significant milestone in what has become an extraordinary creative journey.

To be invited to continue developing the work in Trinidad, the very setting that inspired the story, is a tremendous honour and a powerful recognition of Christella’s talent, creativity and artistic vision. It is a testament not only to the outstanding quality of her work as a composer, but also to the impact she continues to make within the wider performing arts sector.

For those who know Christella, achievements like this come as no surprise. Her creativity, leadership and commitment to nurturing others have inspired countless artists, young people and communities through Music House.

Yet seeing her work recognised on an international stage remains something truly special.

We are incredibly proud of everything she continues to achieve and know the entire Music House community will join us in wishing her every success as Driftwood continues its remarkable journey.
