In our last newsletter, we shared the exciting news that our Creative Director, Christella Litras, had been working with award-winning world-class actress and playwright Martina Laird alongside the Royal Shakespeare Company on their new production, Driftwood.
We’re so proud to share a little update.
The production opened in Stratford-upon-Avon at the end of April, marking a huge moment for Christella as Composer for this major new RSC production. It’s been an incredible few months of creativity, collaboration and hard work, and we couldn’t be happier to see it come to life on stage.
Driftwood is set in 1950s Trinidad and explores themes of identity, family and belonging. Through her composition, Christella has created a powerful and atmospheric sound that brings the story to life, drawing on her deep understanding of Caribbean musical traditions.
Christella is back with us briefly, but not for long. Driftwood will soon transfer to London, with performances at the Kiln Theatre from 3 June to 4 July. She’ll be returning with the production for its London run, which is another huge moment in what has already been an incredible journey.
It’s always special to see someone from our community working at this level, while still being such a central part of Music House. We’re incredibly proud of her and everything she continues to achieve.
If you’d like to support Christella and experience her work live, tickets for the London run are now available via the Kiln Theatre.
